Fighting against human trafficking is an issue near and dear to actress Mira Sorvino's heart.  Sorvino touched on the subject while speaking at the Green Music Center at Sonoma State Univesity in California last month.

Sorvino spoke eloquently about some of the harrowing statistics associated with human trafficking.  She also told some personal stories that she has heard over the years being an activist for victims.

Following her presentation, Sorvino participated in a question and answer session with the audience.  Students and members of the community both attended the lecture and asked questions.

In 1995, Sorvino broke through, winning the Academy Award and Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress for "Mighty Aphrodite".  She has received two other Golden Globe nominations for "Norma Jean & Marilyn" and "Human Trafficking".

Presently, Sorvino mostly acts in independent films.  She also has had multiple recurring roles in television shows in recent years.

Sorvino actively does work with human rights organization, Amnesty International.  She was previously a U.N. Goodwill Ambassador to Combat Human Trafficking.
