Civil Rights leader Vernon Jordan gave an important speech over the weekend.  He keynoted the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus Convention awards gala on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

The convention was held July 15-17 at the Duke Energy Convention Center in Cincinnati.  Top African-American lawmakers flocked to the event to hear Jordan and others speak.

The OLBC is the oldest black caucus in the country.  Some of the topics that were discussed at the convention infant mortality rates, a liveable minimum wage and the criminal justice system.

Jordan has been known to be a top advisor for former President Bill Clinton.  He is a prominent force in the business and political worlds.

Jordan is the former head of the National Urban League and the United Negro College Fund.  At one time, he served on the boards of ten major companies like American Express and Xerox.

Currently, Jordan serves as senior counsel at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, LLP and a senior managing director of Lazard Freres & Co. LLC.  He has received several high-profile accolades, including The American Lawyer magazine's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014.
