Cyborg activist Neil Harbisson has taken a fascinating path in life. He will discuss some of his beliefs and insights as part of a keynote presentation at BIOMEDevice San Jose in December.
The conference is being held December 6-8 at the San Jose Convention Center in California. BIOMEDevice San Jose is hosted in conjunction with Embedded Systems Conference Silicon Valley.
Harbisson's keynote is titled, "The Art and Science of Extending Perception through Cybernetic Technology." He will discuss the opportunities for biological evolution through cybernetic technology.
Harbisson is the co-founder of The Cyborg Foundation. They promote the use of cyborg technology to enhance the human experience.
Most notably, Harbisson himself has an antenna implanted in his skull. It allows him to perceive colors that are outside the normal human spectrum.
Harbisson is an artist and musician who uses the new senses he has acquired via the antenna to enhance his work. His creations have been featured in museums and galleries around the world.
