Despite life challenges, the career of folk singer Judy Collins endured.  She talked about her journey on Sunday as the keynote speaker at the Lawrence + Memorial Hospital's Well Healed Woman conference.

The event was held at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut.  The daylong conference brought over 400 attendees in to hear speakers and participate in shopping.

Collins' story was titled, "Sanity & Grace: My Story."  In addition to talking about her own ups and downs, she addressed the topic of caregiving.

Collins run has a folk music icon has spanned over 50 years.  While she released her debut album in 1961, it was her 1967 single, "Both Sides, Now," that put her on the map.

That song hit the top ten of the Billboard Pop Singles chart and garnered her a Grammy Award win for Best Folk Performance or Folk Recording.  She received three other Grammy nominations during her career.

Six of Collins albums have been certified gold or platinum.  Outside of the music realm, she has been known as a political activist and is currently an ambassador for UNICEF working towards the abolition of landmines.
