Historian David McCullough is one of the most respected voices in America.  Last Wednesday, attendees at the National Association of Professional Surplus Lines Offices conference had the opportunity to hear from him.

He spoke as part of the E.G. Lassiter Lecture Series.  The conference was held in Atlanta, Georgia at the Marriott Marquis and Hyatt Regency from September 25th-28th.

Around 4,000 people attended this year's event.  There were excellent networking opportunities at the event that is considered the premier meeting in the surplus lines industry.

McCullough has been a bestselling author and won several prestigious honors.  He is a two-time winner of the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award.

In 2006, McCullough received the nation's highest civilian award, the Presidential Medal of Freedom.  Some of his best-known books include "1776", "Adams" and "The Wright Brothers".

For 12 years, McCullough hosted the "The American Experience" and he is also formerly the host of "Smithsonian World".  He narrated several documentaries, most notably Ken Burns' award-winning series, "The Civil War".
