One person who has taken the positive out of a negative is Virginia Tech shooting survivor Kristina Anderson.  Anderson recently keynoted the Prince George County Citizens Preparedness Conference. 

The conference focused on readying people for emergencies.  Anderson spoke about always having an awareness of one's surroundings in addition to other tips.  

There were several scenarios discussed throughout the event.  They have seminars on topics like "Public Health Challenges After a Disaster" and "School Preparedness when Disaster Strikes".  

Anderson has devoted her life to making sure people are ready for anything that comes their way.  In 2007, she survived three gunshots in the midst of the tragedy at Virgnia Tech. 

After being one of the most critically injured people that day, Anderson would rally back to return to school and graduate with a degree in International Studies and Foreign Languages.  On campus, she started the Students for Non-Violence to carry forth the memory of her classmates.  

In addition, Anderson is the founder and executive director of The Koshka Foundation, a group that works towards making schools safer.  She has created the app LiveSafe, which is a tool to help stop campus crime.
