M-Pesa Pioneer Nick Hughes Keynotes Digital Impact Awards Africa Next Month

In a couple weeks, M-Pesa pioneer Nick Hughes will speak at an important international digital technology event.  He is the keynote speaker at the Digital Impact Awards Africa.

The event is being held on August 17th at the Kampala Serena Hotel in Uganda.  Hughes keynote is titled, "M-KOPA: Innovations and Business Models to optimize the use of Mobile Money in Africa".

Hughes spearheaded efforts behind M-Pesa, one of the top mobile financial services in the world.  He is the co-founder of M-KOPA and currently leads their development team on new markets and products. 

Prior to M-KOPA, he was the Head of Global Payments at Vodafone Group.  It was at Vodafone Group where Hughes originally started M-Pesa in 2004. 

In 2010, Hughes received the Economist Innovation Award.  He holds both a Ph.D. and MBA from London Business School.
