Sophia Amoruso single-handedly navigated the business world to become an entrepreneurial spirit. She will bring that same energy April 9th as the keynote speaker at Boston College's second annual Women's Summit.
The summit, titled "Own It", is one of the several events during the spring that draws female leaders from various walks of life to the BC campus. In addition to Amoruso, there will be 30 different female speakers that present that day.
Free tickets for the event are available. Amoruso will present from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Amoruso sparked her entrepreneurial interests by selling vintage clothing on eBay. After being run off the e-commerce site in 2008, she founded her own site and company, Nasty Gal.
Revenues skyrocketed and Amoruso served as CEO of the company until 2015. Some of the lessons she learned were detailed in her 2014 memoir, "#GIRLBOSS", which landed on the New York Times bestseller list.
In 2013, Amoruso was named to Inc. Magazine's 30 under 30 list. She has also been called "a Cinderella of tech" by The New York Times.
