There are not many more inspiring individuals one can hear from than a former Nobel Peace Prize winner.  Graduates at UC San Diego will get that opportunity this spring.

Muhammad Yunus will give the UCSD all-campus commencement address on June 11th.  It is the first time in 16 years the school is the school is bringing together all undergraduate and graduate students for the ceremony.

Around 8,000 graduates will be conferred degrees.  Yunus will certainly have plenty to say to these students as they head off into the real world.

Yunus received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 for his work with founding the Grameen Bank.  The Grameen Bank has lent billions of dollars to people in poverty and women starting their own businesses.

In addition to the Peace Prize, Yunus has also been awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal.  He is on the board of directors for the United Nations Foundation and runs a think tank in Bangladesh called The Yunus Centre.

The Wharton School of Business has named Yunus one of The 25 Most Influential Business Persons of the Past 25 Years.  He has a bachelor's and master's degree in economics from Dhaka University and received his Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University.
