Northeastern President Joseph Aoun Speaks at New England Board of Higher Education Summit

Northeastern President Joseph Aoun recently took his time to talk about how students could be better prepared for college. He spoke at a summit hosted by the New England Board of Higher Education. 

The event was held in Boston, Massachusetts at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston on December 4th. Aoun said it is very important for institutions of higher learning to embrace artificial intelligence and robotics. 

He also talked about the realities of automation taking the place of many jobs. The overall theme of the summit was "Employability: A National Imperative." 

Aoun in the seventh president at Northeastern and he originally took office in 2006. He previously served as the dean of the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences at the University of Southern California. 

Aoun originally joined the faculty at USC in 1982 and spent time as the head of their academic Senate. He is particularly regarded for his work on Logical Form and wh-movement. 

Aoun has been named a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Linguistic Society of America and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Linguistics from MIT.
