WNIN stands as a bastian for quality public broadcasting in the region around Evansville, Indiana. They are bringing in a big gun from the public radio world to serve as speaker at their yearly gala.

NPR National Political Correspondent Don Gonyea hopes to draw a crowd out to the 18th annual event. It will be held on January 28th at the Evansville Museum.

In addition to Gonyea's presentation, there will be a dinner along with a live and silent auction. Proceeds raised will go towards supporting WNIN's programs.

Gonyea started at NPR in 1986, covering labor unions and the automotive industry in Detroit. His break in politics came in 2000 when he followed the presidential election of George W. Bush.

After that period, Gonyea became NPR's White House correspondent. He covered the entire Bush presidency and provided live updates from the White House in the aftermath of the September 11th attacks.

In 2008, Gonyea was the lead reporter on the historic presidential campaign of Barack Obama. He began his current role in 2010.
